Every spring, something special happens in Lamar County. High school students who’ve spent months in ag mechanics classes get to show what they’ve built — and this year’s Trailer Build-Off was no exception.
Delco Trailers is headquartered in Paris, Texas, and we’ve been part of this community for 20 years. Supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople isn’t just something we do because it’s good PR — it’s something we do because we believe in it. The students who compete in events like this are the ones who will be building and maintaining equipment for American agriculture for the next 30 years.
Here’s a look at how the 2026 competition unfolded.
About the Lamar County Ag Mechanics Trailer Build-Off
The Lamar County Trailer Build-Off is an annual competition that brings together FFA ag mechanics students from schools across Lamar County. Teams design and build functional trailers as part of their ag mechanics curriculum, then compete on craftsmanship, weld quality, structural integrity, functionality, and overall finish.
It’s a serious competition — and the trailers these students produce would impress plenty of adults with years in the trade.
2026 Results
This year’s competition featured strong entries from three Lamar County schools, and the judging panel had their work cut out for them.
1st Place — Prairiland FFA Prairiland FFA took home the top spot with a trailer that impressed the judges on every criteria. The team’s attention to weld quality and structural detail set them apart. Their trailer was clean, functional, and built to last.
2nd Place — North Lamar FFA North Lamar FFA put together a strong showing, finishing in second place with a well-built entry that demonstrated excellent craftsmanship and a solid understanding of trailer construction fundamentals.
3rd Place — Chisum FFA Chisum FFA rounded out the top three with a competitive entry that showed real skill and made their ag mechanics program proud.
Congratulations to all three teams — and to every student who put in the work to compete. The hours in the shop, the learning to weld, the figuring out how to make something work right — that experience has value that goes well beyond the ribbon.
Why Delco Supports Events Like This
Delco Trailers started in 2006 with a belief that American craftsmanship in trailer manufacturing matters. Twenty years later, we still build every trailer in Paris, Texas — with American steel and a team that takes real pride in what they build.
The students who compete in the Lamar County Build-Off are learning the same fundamentals our team works with every day: how to weld correctly, how to build something that holds up under real load, how to take pride in what comes out of your hands.
That’s not just good for agriculture — it’s good for American manufacturing.
Supporting ag mechanics education and events like the Build-Off is one of the most direct things we can do to invest in the future of this industry and this community.
