Delco’s Powder-Coating Process and Color Guide

At Delco Trailers, we believe durability and style go hand in hand. That’s why every trailer we build goes through a professional six-step powder-coating process using top-tier Sherwin-Williams materials. This process protects your trailer from rust, wear, and weather—while also giving you bold, long-lasting color.

Let’s walk through how it works and what colors you can choose from.

Our Six-Step Powder-Coating Process

Step 1: Blast

We start by blasting the steel frame to remove rust, mill scale, and other surface impurities. This gives us a clean surface so the coating can bond properly.

Step 2: Wash

Next, we wash the frame to clean the steel, balance the pH levels, and improve corrosion resistance. This step is key to making sure the primer and topcoat stick the way they should.

Step 3: Dryer

After washing, the frame goes into a 300-degree oven to dry completely. This removes any leftover moisture before we start coating.

Step 4: Primer

We apply a zinc-rich primer using Sherwin-Williams Ultra-Corrosion Resistant One Cure Powder Coating. This primer protects against rust and provides full coverage across the entire metal surface.

Step 5: Top Coat

Then we apply a high-gloss top coat using OneCure Technology from Sherwin-Williams. This layer gives your trailer a clean finish and adds another level of weather protection.

Step 6: Final Cure

Finally, the trailer frame goes into a 450-degree oven to cure both the primer and top coat at once. The result is a tough, durable finish that lasts for years.

This process isn’t just about looks—it’s about performance. Our powder-coating is designed to hold up in tough conditions and give your trailer the protection it needs.

Color Options That Make a Statement

We offer 13 different color options so you can pick the look that fits your brand, your style, or your operation. Whether you’re going for something classic or bold, we’ve got you covered.
